MEDIA SALES CONSULTANT


WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday – Friday: 40 hours per week
EDUCATION/SKILLS:
Requirements include proficient negotiation skills, ability to develop new business, in depth
understanding of digital platforms, and being solution oriented with customer focused selling.
Knowledge of Rentrak/ComScore, MATRIX, Wide Orbit, One Domain and Word/Power
Point/Excel is a plus. Must have a positive attitude with a strong sense of urgency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for an experienced Account Executive who understands the business. If
you’ve got what it takes for developing new business and increasing revenue, we would
like to speak with you. Requirements include proficient negotiation skills, ability to
develop new business, in depth understanding of digital platforms, and being solution
oriented with customer focused selling. Knowledge of Rentrak/ComScore, MATRIX,
Wide Orbit, One Domain and Word/Power Point/Excel is a plus. Must have a positive

Marketing/Producer Internship

WUPW is seeking a college student for its year-round Marketing/Producer Internship. This opportunity is designed for students interested in broadcast television, video production, digital content, and media marketing. Interns will gain valuable hands-on experience while working alongside station professionals and learning how creative concepts move from idea to execution.

Internship experience includes:

Video Production

  • Observing and assisting with the production process, including pre-production planning, shooting, editing, and final production
  • Shadowing the station’s Marketing/Commercial Producer
  • Helping organize and schedule video shoots and edits
  • Strengthening writing skills for both broadcast and digital platforms

At the end of the internship, the student will complete a presentation on a mutually agreed-upon topic related to television, audience engagement, marketing, or revenue growth

  • How can local broadcast television better connect with younger audiences across multiple screens?
  • How can local non-news-producing stations increase engagement with younger viewers?
  • What promotional idea could help drive additional station revenue or viewership?

WUPW Advertising Sales Internship

WUPW is seeking a college student for its year-round Advertising Sales Internship. This opportunity is designed for students interested in multimedia sales, client service, commercial production, and media strategy. Interns will gain valuable hands-on experience while working alongside station professionals and learning how advertising solutions are developed, presented, and executed across multiple platforms.

Internship experience includes:

Multimedia Sales

  • Learning how to meet with new and existing local clients to develop advertising campaigns based on their individual business needs
  • Gaining experience servicing existing clients and supporting ongoing advertising relationships
  • Assisting with the creation and presentation of client-focused advertising solutions using PowerPoint and Excel
  • Learning how digital media plans are developed, sold, and serviced as part of a broader multimedia strategy

Commercial Production / Sales Promotion

  • Shadowing creative services personnel throughout the commercial production process, including pre-production meetings, shooting, editing, and producing local commercials

Regional / Transactional Selling

  • Observing regional account executives who work primarily with regional agencies and gaining insight into agency relationships and negotiations

At the end of the internship, the student will complete a presentation on a mutually agreed-upon topic related to media, audience engagement, advertising, or revenue growth.

Potential presentation topics include:

  • Younger viewing now takes place across four screens. How might these viewing trends continue to evolve?
  • How can local television stations better engage younger viewers?
  • What “big idea” could help generate additional station revenue or viewership?
